In the last month I have heard talks in the pubs, irc, and other places of tweeks you can do to the tac ops game that are legal. What are these "Tweeks" and why are they not availiable to everyone?

there are CS:S tweaks, but i dont know of any TO tweaks that are legal

Why would you even CONSIDER using Reefer Madness as one of your names. It just makes people think you are him and will cause you problems.....

The tweak you are probably talking about would probably be the ambient adjustment which I already know that you know about. There are probably alot of other 'tweaks' that you know about and are not about to share.

Ambient 'supposedly' helps the player hear better. I have tried it and it does squat. I am assuming it would however help players who do not have their sound set up correctly.

Ambient is changed by adjustin the Ambient value in your TacticalOps.ini. You CANNOT set it to zero like some people claim they have done because it will actually turn the ambient sounds ALL THE WAY UP or something else funky. If you set it to .1 it will dampen the 'extra' sounds you hear on a map. Like the water in Rapidwaters.... etc. However it will also dampen sounds like the elevator on Trooper which is more of a negative side affect rather than a positive sound affect.

There has been a discussion on 'tweaks' in a dispute and I will quote what I wrote there here.

In some cases it isn't in others it is......... go ahead tweak the hell out of your .ini..... just plan on getting banned if it makes you look like a cheater. My advise is to leave your f'n .ini alone and learn how to play the damn game.

If you have found some way to make it so you run faster then you are a cheater. If you have found some tweak that makes you hard to hit then you are a cheater, if you have found some tweak that makes your enemy easier to see then you are a cheater, if you have found some tweak to lessen damage to you then you are a cheater. You are talking to me as if I were some idiot who doesn't know what you can and can't do with just tweaking your .ini. I know damn well what has been done in the past to tweak an .ini and they were ONLY TWEAKS NOTHING ELSE BUT THEY WERE STILL CHEATS you idiot. Like I said before and I will say it again... ANYTHING you tweak in your INI that makes you able to cheat the game and do things that are not intended will get you banned. So if you think that you can tweak whatever the hell you want in your ini in order to accomplish whatever you feel like then you are sadly mistaken.

From the conversation it seems all of you think that EVERYTHING in the .ini is free game to screw around with.

Doesnt setting a negative LOD incease the detail? and Increasing the LOD makes it look like shit? Also ambience can be completely turned off...NVIDIA's beta drivers allow for adjusting the LOD detail at a driver level now thats fuckin neato! And about "a tweak that lessens damage" that is literally impossible. Someone goin crazy on what can and can't be done with an INI.

Only 2 modifications were increasing the outputrate(increases sound quality).
And ambientfactor=0 which does infact work quite well. Ive seen a few people with .1 and .12 didn't really know why but I guess 0 didn't work for them. As for video the only modifications are to increase the quality high res high quality looks hot =P. Maybe rogue should make a "legal tweaks" list instead of trying to put the "if you tweak i will ban you" fear of god into them. Ah I remember these tweaking debats they are sooo old when they were on the TO forums that was some good reading.
